Family Skate Night

Change to Day School Carpool (5/14-5/18)

We were just informed that the crane will be back next week!

Therefore, there will be no carpool through the Day School entrance starting the morning of May 14 through end of day May 18. All K-5 students need to be dropped off and picked up at the synagogue entrance during this week. If you have a child in the Preschool, your Day School student can come in through the Preschool entrance as well, but you will need to walk them into the Day School.

For your safety please do not come into the building through the Day School entrance. If you choose to park in the Day School parking lot, please park in an area furthest away from the building.

There will be no changes to Middle School carpool. Middle School will still enter and exit through the Middle School door as usual.

Thank You Letter from the Chicago Chesed Fund

Read the “Buzz” from the 50th Anniversary Celebration This Past Weekend

“I have never seen such talented and extremely motivated professionals, staff, lay leaders, and volunteers weave their ideas and creative energies to produce such an incredible and memorable reunion. The synergy was palpable. Every moment to convey our message was capitalized upon. The high calibur and quality that was placed in every detail was evident!”

“The teamwork and devotion, the commitment and creativity of our lay leaders, professionals and staff were in abundant evidence.  May the glow of the light generated over the past two days continue to shine on the path that lies ahead.”

“I feel very lucky to be a part of this sacred community and to have an amazing group of professionals and lay leaders that make the Center what it is!”

“Thank you for what you all did to make this weekend a warm memory that will last for at least another fifty years!”

“Another amazing night at the Jacksonville Jewish Center- congrats to all those who made the 50th celebration so special and special thanks to the school founders, leaders, teachers and students!”

“What an awesome 50th Anniversary Celebration of our synagogue school! Yasher Koach to all who worked so hard over the past year to put this amazing event together.”

“The future of Jewish education in Jacksonville is alive and well. How lucky are we to be experiencing the fruits of incredible visionaries! How lucky are we to have such dedicated leadership at the JJC! And how fortunate are we to be the recipients of such meaningful gifts! I am in awe of our Rabbis, our Haz, our Head of Schools, our teachers, our wonderful volunteers and this incredible JJC family!”

Pickles, the 8th grade mascot bunny, is looking for a new home!

Do you want your kids to experience the love and responsibility that goes along with owning a pet, but they aren’t ready for a dog yet?  Pickles, the 8th grade mascot bunny, is looking for a new home!  It should be a relatively quiet place with gentle and kind residents, preferably no cats and rather docile dogs, if any.  She comes with a cage, but she needs some time to run in a safe, tiled area frequently.    Her needs are minimal – snacks, water, hay, and hugs!  If you have love to give and dreams of a low-maintenance pet, call Mrs. Burkhart in the Day School at 268-4200 ext. 148 and leave a message.

The 50th Anniversary Weekend Has Arrived!

LOOKING FORWARD TO CELEBRATING WITH EVERYONE!

Hear What People are Saying About edJEWcon…

“My mind is a twitter.  I’m all blogged out.  And I can’t spend anymore time in the App store.  I’m uncomfortable, in brain pain, and petrified of what I don’t know.  And I couldn’t be more excited or invigorated about it.”

“Ok, the conference is over and my brain is overflowing with ideas and thoughts.  I learned so much at this conference and met so many great and inspiring people.”

“It was refreshing to hear ideas that have been implemented in similar schools, and learn what is possible to do in order to invigorate Jewish and secular studies. New tools and platforms were introduced, and the importance of connecting outside of our community became apparent.”

“After two days at edJEWcon, we’re definitely feeling a bit of information overload, but according to Heidi Hayes Jacobs from Curriculum 21, a little bit of uneasiness is a good thing.”

Check out the edJEWcon Twitter feed (#edjewcon) – close to 1000 tweets sharing what was learned, giving thanks to MJGDS for having the vision and following through with edJEWcon and networking.  Cick here for pictures.
