World Book Online is the digital companion to the popular print World Book Encyclopedia, including all the entries in the set plus thousands of annotated and previewed websites. It also includes articles from over 100 periodicals most used by students for research. Our school subscription includes World Book Kids, World Book Student, and World Book Timelines.
World Book Kids is designed for students in elementary school. Encyclopedic entries are written at a lower level and with more pictures and illustrations as examples, and embedded multimedia option. The site offers a variety of simple search options as well as over 200 educational games and activities. Special features include a tool for exploring and comparing animals, a biography section that features historical and contemporary people of interest to this age group, age-appropriate science fair projects, a tool for exploring and comparing geographical places, and an atlas with interactive maps, outline maps, and flags.
World Book Student is designed for students in middle school. It includes articles from the print encyclopedia as well as a Biography Center, dictionary, atlas, an extensive multimedia collection, thousands of editor-selected websites, correlations to curriculum standards, and much more.
World Book Timelines consists of hundreds of pre-generated timelines across eight broad topics covering various time periods in history or spanning the life of historical public figures. An added feature allows users to create their own timeline from scratch, adding events, descriptions, and media.
