“A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words”
Using images in your blog posts or other creations attracts your reader’s/viewer’s attention by adding interest. Websites offering images abound, but before downloading a file, you must make sure to comply with any licensing restrictions stipulated by the creator. Some sites offer Public Domain images where the copyright has expired or that were created by US government employees during the course of their work. Other websites offer stock photography (pictures taken by professional photographers), some may be free to download, for others there will be a fee. As a general rule, you must cite all images or clipart used in your blog posts or other digital creations. For specific examples, visit the Citing Images Online page.
