Parents are welcome to check out as many items as they wish to be responsible for. Children may return parent books, but may not check out books for parents.

Books are due within two (2) weeks but may be renewed if needed longer provided there are no hold requests. Exceptions for additional book borrowing may be granted for curriculum-related research or other special projects as directed by classroom teachers.

Overdue, Lost, or Damaged Materials

Overdue notices are sent home periodically. While there is no fine for overdue books, materials overdue by 30 days or more are assumed to be lost and a replacement fee will be assessed. If you feel our records are in error, kindly email

If a book is lost or damaged it must be paid for. A flat $15.00 replacement fee will be assessed. Alternatively, the lost or damaged book may be replaced with a like copy. Payment may be in the form of a check made out to the JJC, or with exact cash (change cannot be made). Send the payment to the school marked "Attention Day School Library". Payment is refundable if a lost book is found and returned on or before the last day of the current school year. If an item is returned after the end of the school year, the item will be considered a donation.

Class Visits

Students visit the library once a week with their class. In addition, students may visit the library from 8:00 to 8:15 am Monday through Friday to conduct library business without a parent or caregiver. Parents, please use the library before or after school so as not to disturb a class visit.
